Suriya is an orangutan who lives at The Institute of Greatly Endangered and Rare Species in Myrtle Beach South Carolina. It is owned by Dr. Bhagavan Antle. Roscoe is a Bluetick Coonhound met them near the sanctuary. According to Dr. Bhagavan, Roscoe had followed him and Suryia one day through the park’s gate.
“As soon as Suriya saw Roscoe, he ran to him and started to play.” It was absolutely unusual. Dogs are usually scared of primates. But they became friends with each other straight away. ” Dr. Antle said. As Roscoe looked thin and a little lost, Dr. Antle fed him and took care of him. Then he had tried several times to contact the owner of Roscoe, but they were unsuccessful. Then he decided to let Roscoe stay with them. Now they have become a very joyful and inseparable pair. They spend most hours of the day swimming and playing. Most of the time Suriya takes Roscoe for walks around the park, and sometimes he even feeds Roscoe with some of his monkey biscuits.
The most amazing thing about this duo is, that they have released a picture book which is full of pictures of them. They also got a huge young fan base when releasing their new book at a bookstore in Georgetown, South Carolina. They were there, own signing for the newly released book.
In one photo, Suryia was there with a life jacket and watching over Roscoe as he was going for a doggie paddle. Another photo shows Roscoe refusing to eat a banana offered by Suryia. And also their book is filled with lots of captures taken while they were walking through the gardens and posing in front of an elephant.
However, this amazing duo got worldwide media attention and appeared in Ellen DeGeneres and Oprah Winfrey shows in the USA as well as in National Geographic magazine.
